How to Resolve the Wi-Fi Hotspot Issue on iOS7

iPhone 5S (Top Half - Front)With iOS 7, Apple brought to the iPhone users a great deal of refreshing and useful features. The OS has undergone a lot of change in its core in terms of the flow of the Navigation. However as is the case with any new OS, many new bugs that otherwise worked well until iOS 6, crept into the OS. Apple is putting in great efforts to eliminate the same but few of them like the Wi-Fi Hotspot bug continues to persist.

Fortunately, many have been able to fix this bug themselves using a workaround.

wifi settings iosFix 1: Reset the Device Wi-Fi Settings

  • Navigate to Setting s> Wi-Fi
  • Click on the i (Information) icon next to a wifi networks name.
  • Delete each of the DNS and the respective passwords and exit the Settings app.
  • Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
  • This should restart your iPhone / iPad / iPod
  • On device startup, navigate to Settings > Wi-Fi and re-enter your WiFi settings. This should most likely fix the Hotspot issue.

Fix 2: Re-Enter the APN Settings

In some cases, the first fix alone was not able to resolve the issue. You can proceed to this step in such a case.

  • Navigate to Settings>General>Network>Cellular Data Network
  • Select Internet Tethering and Re-Enter the APN settings as provided by your network operator.

These solutions have been tested on the latest iOS 7.0.4 and have worked for most. Remember to upgrade your phone to iOS 7.0.4 before trying these fixes for the Hotspot issue on your phone for best results.
